Places for Players 2009/10 - Cheque Presentation PDF Print E-mail

Places for Players highlights how Barclays Premier League clubs play an important role in their local communities.  Now in its third season, there are five Places for Players appearances from each club; four which showcase their own community work, and a fifth one which sees a local good cause organisation benefit both from player involvement and a legacy donation of £20,000 from the Premier League.

After careful consideration the decision was taken this season to make the donation to the local Community Safety Partnership to enable continued delivery of positive activities for young people in Blackburn and Darwen.

Duncan Kinloch from Blackburn Rovers Community Trust recently invited Vicky Clark, Deputy Community Safety Manager at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Nasima Bax, Senior Strategy Officer, and Samantha Pierce, Police Community Safety Officer, to Ewood Park where a delighted Brett Emerton made the cheque presentation.

Duncan added:  "Working with partners from the Community Safety Partnership this funding provides a fantastic opportunity to ensure that local young people have the chance to take part in organised, meaningful activity in the evening and further builds on the range of inclusion projects delivered across the Borough."

Places for Players is part of Creating Chances, the umbrella brand for all the good cause work delivered by the Premier League and its clubs.
