BTEC Diploma in Sport

Blackburn Rovers Community Trust are looking for players to join their combined football and education scholarship for the 2017/18 season.

16 - 18 year-old footballer? Considering college? Why not sign up to the Blackburn Rovers BTEC in Sport Programme?

It is a unique opportunity for ambitious football fans to study at Ewood Park and represent Blackburn Rovers in organised football or futsal contests against fellow BTEC students at other professional clubs.

During the scholarship, students can earn qualifications that will help gain employment in the sport and leisure industry – possibly even with Rovers' Community Trust.

Participants will also train and compete for Rovers in either a professional futsal environment or an 11-a-side games programme against representative teams from other professional clubs in the EFL.

Students will receive high-quality futsal or football training for a minimum of six hours per week, spread over a minimum of four sessions (players can still represent their own club at the weekend). Training will be supplemented with fortnightly fixtures against other professional clubs. Each year, two stand-out futsal players will be sent to represent Rovers at the England national team trials.

The course is based at Ewood Park, with all of the futsal matches taking place at quality regional facilities; most of our fixtures being played in Manchester.

Work experience options within Blackburn Rovers Community Trust are made available to the best candidates whilst on the course, along with the chance to gain your Futsal Level 1 coaching certificate and FA Level 1 coaching certificate.

Being part of our programme can get you noticed, as Jade Elliott found out when her unique status as the region's only female futsal scholar got her a full page story in the Lancashire Evening Post and a feature on new Freeview channel That's Lancashire. Here's the news report that talks about her efforts and the many reasons why others should consider our scholarship.
